Spend your days up close and personal with the tiniest resident bilbies at the Bilby Experience, take in a number of army bases hidden around the region and with the outback’s low residual light, there is no better place to look at the night sky. Come on a journey deep into the tranquillity and warm hospitality of Outback Queensland. Follow the Adventure Way as it leads us home through historic towns and an ever-changing landscape.

DAY 1 - HERVEY BAY to MILES (D)
Sunday 8th September: Welcome aboard our 5 day Charleville Explorer. After completing our pick-up service from Hervey Bay and Brisbane we travel inland to Queensland’s Garden City, Toowoomba. Here we take in the stunning views of the views of the Lockyer Valley and Tabletop Mountain from Picnic Point Lookout perched on the edge of the Great Dividing Range. Continue along the Adventure Way to Chinchilla, home of the Chinchilla Melon Festival before reaching Miles, a vibrant rural township known for its spring wildflowers and a well-preserved ‘living” pioneering history, our first overnight stop.

DAY 2 - MILES TO CHARLEVILLE (BLD)
Monday 9th September: We have a travel day ahead so sit back, relax and chat to your fellow travellers or watch the scenery roll by your window. If you love a great story, then here’s one for you. Arriving in Australia penniless, pioneer Harry (Poppa) Corones, went on to build an empire and make Australian history several times throughout his life. We hear his amazing story while enjoying lunch at the iconic Hotel Corones. Next is the Bilby Experience. Here, our guide will reveal Australia’s native animal extinction crisis, discover the breeding program and hopefully see the unique little creatures. We have free time this afternoon before dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3 - EXPLORING CHARLEVILLE (BLD)
Tuesday 10th September: Our interesting day begins with a local guided tour to unravel the mystery surrounding the Charleville airport and how it came to be a top-secret site during World War II. Enjoying lunch at the Charleville RSL Memorial Club we then visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre to gain an incredible insight into this iconic remote service. Early evening, we grab a warm jacket and head to the incredible Cosmos Centre to be taken on an astronomical journey through the ages, unravelling the many mysteries of our night sky. Tonight we will enjoy the open-air observatory and viewing of the outback night sky. Afterwards we return the hotel in time for dinner. we return to the hotel in time for dinner.

DAY 4 - CHARLEVILLE to ST GEORGE (BLD)
Wednesday 11th September: Today it’s time to farewell Charleville as we head east. Arriving late morning in Roma we make a stop and enjoy our packed lunch. We continue on to the township of St George. Perched on the banks of the Balonne River, it is the perfect place to discover the local produce and stunningly fragile art. We enjoy the artistry of Kevin Taylor as you behold the Cotton and Transport Murals before having free time in town. Next, we visit the Unique Egg. In an unassuming brick building, you will come across the humble emu egg, carved into a stunning, illuminated piece of art. Created by Steve Margaritis, the genuinely impressive collection is the world's only display and works have been gifted as far as the White House! This afternoon we discover the river on a tranquil sunset cruise, taking in the beautiful river gums, birdlife and landscape before returning to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 5 - ST GEORGE to HERVEY BAY (B)
Thursday 12th September: With our bags packed full of memories, we follow the Adventure Way making our home. We’ll make a stop enroute for morning tea and lunch, before farewelling Brisbane passenger’s late afternoon and our fellow Wide Bay passengers in the evening.
