Tuesday 10th March 2009: An early start for travelling companions joining between Hervey Bay and Caboolture. Brisbane passengers meet at Brisbane Domestic Airport. A chance to meet your tour escort and new found travelling companions before boarding our flight to Tasmania. Check in at your Launceston accommodation by 2.00pm today to meet your coach captain and spend an afternoon visiting some of the natural attractions Launceston is famous for. This evening enjoy your first dinner on tour at Dr Harry’s Farm. 2 Night Stay Launceston.
DAY 2 TAMAR VALLEY BD
Wednesday 11th March 2009: Travel down the picturesque Tamar Valley and cross the Tamar River via the unique Batman Bridge to visit Moores Hill Estate and the Beaconsfield Gold Mine before making your way back to Launceston via Grindelwald, a unique Swiss Village.
DAY 3 FINGAL VALLEY BD
Thursday 12th March 2009: Leave Launceston today and head towards the sunny east coast. Attractions along the way include the Historic Homestead of Woolmers Estate as well as visiting the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company to sample some of the local produce. Stay Scamander/Bicheno.
DAY 4 EAST COAST BD
Friday 13th March 2009: Leaving the East Coast this morning travel along the picturesque coastline before visiting a wildlife park. Continue south through the coastal townships of Swansea and Triabunna before heading inland to the historic township of Richmond. Tonight is the first of a four night stay in the capital city. Stay Hobart.
DAY 5 HOBART B
Saturday 14th March 2009: This morning take time out to experience the famous Salamanca Markets before enjoying some free time to visit the local shops or take in the local sights. Spend the afternoon exploring the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, before deciding where you would like to dine tonight as tonight's dinner is travellers choice (own expense).
DAY 6 TASMAN PENINSULA BD
Sunday 15th March 2009: After a morning exploring the spectacular coastal formations of the Tasman Peninsula, visit the historic penal settlement of Port Arthur and learn of the atrocities that took place here over 200 years ago. On your return to Hobart, a treat, as you visit the Barilla Bay Oyster Farm for a guided tour before enjoying dinner in their award winning restaurant.
DAY 7 HUON VALLEY BD
Monday 16th March 2009: The itinerary today takes you south through the Huon Valley, once home to Tasmania’s thriving apple industry, and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel District. Before returning to Hobart travel to the peak of Mt Wellington for a majestic view of the city below.
DAY 8 WEST COAST BD
Tuesday 17th March 2009: Say goodbye to Hobart, and travel to Strahan on Tasmania’s rugged west coat, visiting ‘The Wall’ and waterfalls on the way. Optional this afternoon is the West Coast Wilderness Railway from Queenstown to Strahan (own expense). Tonight’s dinner is a seafood buffet overlooking Strahan Harbour. 2 Night Stay Strahan.
DAY 9 GORDON RIVER BD
Wednesday 18th March 2009: This morning you have some free time to relax in your room or to explore Strahan’s beautiful waterfront. This afternoon board the cruise that crosses Macquarie Harbour before travelling up the famous Gordon River. Enjoy your highlight dinner onboard as you cruise this pristine part of the world.
DAY 10 CRADLE MOUNTAIN BLD
Thursday 19th March 2009: The destination today is Devonport. On the way you will visit one of Tasmania’s best known National Parks, Cradle Mountain, as well as the town of murals Sheffield. Stay Devonport.
DAY 11 NORTH WEST BD
Friday 20th March 2009: Before leaving Devonport visit the one time residence of former Prime Minister Joseph Lyons. From here travel up the coast stopping at Annsleigh Gardens, Creative Paper and the Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition Centre. 2 Night Stay Wynyard.
DAY 12 FAR NORTH WEST BD
Saturday 21st March 2009: This morning make your way to the far north west property of ‘Woolnorth’. Enjoy a tour of the property including a visit to Cape Grim. On your return to Wynyard visit the Stanley Nut and Table Cape.
DAY 13 LAUNCESTON B
Sunday 22nd March 2009: On your return to Launceston pass through the township of Latrobe and visit the many antique shops. Your final stops will be at Ashgrove Cheese Factory and Yarns Artwork in Silk before arriving into Launceston mid afternoon. Time to bid farewell to our ‘Time Out in Tassie’ before our return flight to Brisbane. On arrival into Brisbane board your coach for your return journey home.
