DAY 1 HERVEY BAY–COFFS HARBOUR (D)
Thursday 4th February 2010: An early start for passengers joining between Hervey Bay and Caloundra. Brisbane passengers join at Roma Street Transit Centre at 9.00am with Gold Coast passenger pick ups enroute as required. We are all excited about being a part of an amazing holiday experience to see the 60th Anniversary Edinburgh Military Tattoo as it kicks off it’s celebratory year with a concert in Sydney with the theme, "Celebrating 60 years of Valour, Mateship and Glory".
With all onboard travel over the NSW border at Tweed Heads (advance watches one hour) for travel to Ballina. Free time for lunch in this beautiful seaside resort. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Northern Rivers as we continue to Maclean and an afternoon break at the Visitor Information Centre. On to Coffs Harbour and our comfortable overnight accommodation.
DAY 2 COFFS HARBOUR–SYDNEY (BLD)
Friday 5th February 2010: After a delicious breakfast board the coach for the drive to Sydney. Travel to the thriving rural centre of Taree which straddle’s the Manning River. A light lunch has been organised for us at the Taree Club. The afternoon tour gives us a break in Raymond Terrace before we arrive in Sydney to check into our accommodation and base for the next two nights at Rydges Resort, Camperdown opposite Sydney University.
DAY 3 SYDNEY SIGHTSEEING & MILITARY TATTOO (BLD)
Saturday 6th February 2010: This morning you are at your leisure to explore the exciting and vibrant Darling Harbour area of Sydney. It is Saturday morning so the area will be buzzing with street entertainment and shopping venues, browse for a souvenir to take home plus take in the stunning views. Mid morning it is “all aboard” the Captain Cook Cruises flagship, MV Sydney 2000, departing from Circular Quay. Enjoy a fascinating cruise on Sydney Harbour complete with stunning views, sparkling waters, well-known landmarks and a comprehensive commentary. Savour a delicious seafood lunch as we cruise the World’s most beautiful harbour!
Back on shore take the opportunity to explore the nearby historical Rocks area before we return to our accommodation to relax before dinner. This evening our holiday highlight as we travel to the Sydney Football Stadium at Moore Park to witness one of the world’s most spectacular shows, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. This is only the third time the show has been staged outside Scotland and will be the events largest ever, showcasing 60 years of Valour, Mateship and Glory. See the million-dollar replica of Edinburgh Castle and marvel at the precision of some 1500 performers including Massed Pipes and Drums, Highland Dancers and the stirring Lone Piper. We will certainly feel like a good nights sleep when we return to our accommodation after a full and exciting day.
DAY 4 SYDNEY–GLENN INNES (BLD)
Sunday 7th February 2010: With our hearts still a flutter from witnessing a stirring extravaganza the previous evening, we say farewell to Sydney and cross over the Harbour Bridge. Travel the Pacific Highway, bypassing Gosford and turning off to Cessnock to enjoy a morning break. Cessnock is the service town for the many wineries of the Pokolbin area and we pass by a number of these before reaching the New England Highway at Branxton.
Our tour takes us through the Upper Hunter Valley towns of Singleton and Muswellbrook for lunch at the Scone Visitors Centre. Scone is the centre for the many horse studs in the area and lush green pastures, frolicking horses and white fences and stables can be glimpsed as we travel. In the afternoon tour through the heart of the prosperous New England Tablelands, passing through Tamworth and Armidale before we reach the Celtic town of Glenn Innes for our overnight stay.
DAY 5 GLENN INNES–HOME (B)
Monday 8th February 2010: It’s our last day together on tour so we enjoy a good country breakfast before continuing north through Tenterfield and over the border back into Queensland at Wallangarra (clocks back by one hour). Enjoy a morning break in Warwick before we reach Brisbane for lunch (own cost). Gold Coast and Brisbane passengers depart the tour. Passengers north enroute to Hervey Bay stay on the coach.
