DAY 1              HERVEY BAY–TWEED HEADS                                (LD)

Thursday, 10th June 2010:   June is a lovely season for travel and we have a great “take-a-break” holiday package for you to enjoy.  Depart Centro at Hervey Bay at 8.00am and Maryborough Transit Centre at 8.30am.  Travel to Gympie for a morning tea break.  We then enjoy a fine buffet lunch at Spinnakers Restaurant overlooking the bay at Woody Point before bypassing the Brisbane city area over the Gateway Bridge and down to the fabulous Gold Coast.

At Currumbin visit Superbee Honeyworld for their Live Bee Show and get a taste of the world’s widest range of pure honeys.  Over the border into Tweed Heads where our friendly hosts meet us and see us comfortably settled into our accommodation before dinner is served in the dining room.  4 Night Stay Kennedy Drive Motor Inn.

DAY 2              RAINFOREST RIVER CRUISE                                  (BLD)

Friday, 11th June 2010:   Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning before transfer to the Tweed Marina for our enthralling River and Rainforest Cruise. Tweed Endeavour Cruises have found this leisurely cruise down the Tweed River to be most popular with tour groups. Our Captain will provide an interesting commentary on the area, the cycles of wildlife and where the fish are biting.  Enjoy the bird of prey feeding and the backdrop of sub tropical rainforest before we arrive at the little village of Tumbulgum.

A light lunch will be served on board before we disembark and explore the village and maybe pay a visit to the popular Tumbulgum Tavern. All aboard our coach once more as we return through Tweed Heads and over the border to the Currumbin Sanctuary. This quiet oasis of landscaped ground and bushland is home to Australia’s largest collection of native animals. We have the remainder of the afternoon to explore this unique sanctuary and enjoy the many shows before we return to our Tweed Heads accommodation to relax after a great day in the outdoors.

DAY 3              ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING                           (BLD)

Saturday, 12th June 2010:   Time to relax after breakfast before we leave for Tropical Fruit World a few kilometres south of Tweed Heads.  Everything you see, touch and taste at Tropical fruit World is for real. They have over 500 varieties of tropical fruits and shortly after our arrival we can enjoy the popular Miracle Fruit Show. Our next visit is to the nearby Madura Tea Plantation. Founded in 1978 by Michael Grant – Cook and his wife Norma, it is now a leading specialist tea grower. Most all of us enjoy a cuppa so his tour of the tea trees and factory will give us a real appreciation of this wonderful plant.

Time now for some lunch so we move on in to Murwillumbah and the Escape Coffee Lounge and Gallery.  Bob and Annette Stainlay are the genial hosts and after our meal we can see some of the art on display in their upstairs gallery. This afternoon we visit a unique stud farm, Crystal Creek Miniatures. Set on the banks of the magnificent Crystal Creek, this farm features some of the world’s smallest horses and cattle.  We can enjoy the tractor train tour around the property followed by some afternoon tea before we return to Tweed Heads.

DAY 4              MARINERS COVE & TALL SHIPS CRUISE           (BLD)

Sunday, 13th June 2010:   This morning travel through the Gold Coast to the Tall Ship Terminal at Mariners Cove, Main Beach. All aboard the Tall Ship for a leisurely cruise on the calm waters to McLarens landing on South Stradbroke Island.  Feed the Wallabies and the Kookaburras while a delicious steak and seafood BBQ island feast is prepared for our lunch.

Relax in this secluded island environment before we return to Mariners Cove Marina with afternoon tea on board. Our coach will then transfer us back to Tweed Heads with the remainder of the afternoon free to relax or do some shopping. This evening visit the Twin Towns Services Club and enjoy a great dinner before their entertaining live show.  Back then to our accommodation for a good nights rest.

DAY 5              TWEED VALLEY–HOME                                          (B)

Monday, 14th June 2010:   We are farewelled by our friendly hosts and take the scenic tour via Nerang and Canungra into the Tamborine National Park.  At Eagle Heights time to explore the boutique shops along Gallery Walk.  Of interest is the Mount Tamborine Vineyard and Winery, the German Cuckoo Clock Nest and not to be missed is Granny Mac’s with its tantalising aromas of fudge and confectionary made on the premises.

Our tour now leaves the Gold Coast Hinterland and we travel to Brisbane (passenger drops offs as requested).  Northbound passengers stay on the coach. The afternoon tour up the Bruce Highway will bring us safely home to Maryborough at 5.30pm and Hervey Bay 6.15pm and the end our “take-a-break” holiday.
