DAY 1 HERVEY BAY–COFFS HARBOUR            (D)

Thursday 21st October 2010:  An early start for passengers joining between Hervey Bay and Caloundra.  Brisbane passengers join at Roma Street Transit Centre at 9.00am with Gold Coast passenger pick ups enroute as required.  We are all excited about being a part of an amazing holiday experience to see Ben Hur Stadium Spectacular, which combines the scale of the Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony with the drama of the slave who dared defy the Roman Empire.

With all onboard travel over the NSW border at Tweed Heads (clocks forward one hour for daylight saving) and continue to Brunswick Heads.  Free time for lunch in this beautiful seaside resort.  Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Northern Rivers as we journey to Maclean for an afternoon break at the Ferry Park Visitor Information Centre.  On to Coffs Harbour and our  comfortable  overnight accommodation at the Big Windmill Motor Inn.

DAY 2 COFFS HARBOUR–SYDNEY         (BLD)

Friday 22nd October 2010:After a delicious breakfast board the coach for the drive to Sydney. Pause at the beautiful historic tourist resort of Port Macquarie for lunch at the Panthers Club. It is hard to imagine this thriving holiday town had its beginnings as a penal settlement.  Bypass the rural centre of Taree which straddles the Manning River.  The afternoon touring gives us a break in Raymond Terrace before we arrive in Sydney to check into our accommodation and base for the next two nights at Airport Sydney International Motor Inn.

DAY 3 SYDNEY SIGHTSEEING & BEN HUR        (BD)

Saturday 23rd October 2010: This morning you are at your leisure to explore the exciting and vibrant Darling Harbour area of Sydney.  It is Saturday morning so the area will be buzzing with street entertainment. Visit the many shopping venues, browse for a souvenir to take home plus take in the stunning views.

In the afternoon we take the opportunity to explore the nearby historical Rocks area before we return to our accommodation to relax before dinner. Tonight attend our holiday highlight Ben Hur, a once in a lifetime experience that you will never forget!  After the performance it’s time for a good nights sleep when we return to our accommodation after a full and exciting day.

DAY 4 SYDNEY–ARMIDALE                       (BLD)

Sunday 24th October 2010:  With our hearts still a flutter from witnessing a stirring extravaganza the previous evening, we say farewell to Sydney and cross over the Harbour Bridge.  Travel the Pacific Highway, bypassing Gosford and turn off to Cessnock, the service town for the many wineries of the Pokolbin area and we pass by a number of these before reaching the New England Highway at Branxton.

Our tour takes us through the Upper Hunter Valley towns of Singleton and Muswellbrook for lunch at the Scone Visitors Centre.  Scone is the centre for the many horse studs in the area and lush green pastures, frolicking horses and white fences and stables can be glimpsed as we travel.  In the afternoon tour through the heart of the prosperous New England Tablelands, passing through Tamworth to reach Armidale for our overnight stay at the Country Comfort Armidale.

 

DAY 5 ARMIDALE–HOME                           (B)

Monday 25th October 2010:It’s our last day together on tour so we enjoy a good country breakfast before continuing north to Tenterfield for a morning tea break, then over the border back into Queensland at Wallangarra (clocks back by one hour).  Enjoy lunch in Warwick (own cost) before we reach Brisbane where Gold Coast and Brisbane passengers depart the tour.  Passengers north enroute to Hervey Bay stay on the coach.  Thank you for joining us on this “once in a lifetime experience”.
