The ‘Corner Country; a part of the outback that does not belong to any one state, but instead, straddles the borders of NSW, Queensland and South Australia. A journey to this outback intersection is a real adventure, with rugged sandstone ridges, strikingly red sand dunes, vast gibber plains, gidgee lined creeks and waterholes and the world’s longest fence.

TRAVEL ITINERARY

DAY 1 - HOME to ROMA (D)

Sunday 7th June 2026: We have a fabulous 13 days exploring the corner country of Outback QLD, SA and NSW. Today is a travel day—sit back, enjoy the changing landscape, and get to know fellow adventurers. With stops en-route, we arrive late afternoon in Roma for our overnight stay.

DAY 2 - ROMA to CUNNAMULLA (BLD)

Monday 8th June: An early start takes us to Charlotte Plains , a family-owned sheep station dating to the 1860s. Owner Robyn Russell joins us for a guided tour, showcasing Merino, Dohne and Aussie White sheep. Highlights include the 561m Great Artesian Basin bore and historic woolshed, before a relaxed lunch on the homestead verandah. After experiencing genuine outback hospitality, we travel a short distance to our accommodation to settle in for the evening.

DAY 3 - CUNNAMULLA to THARGOMINDAH (BLD)

Tuesday 9th June: This morning we travel to Eulo, visiting the Eulo Queen Opal Centre with opals from Koroit, Yowah and Duck Creek fields. Lunch follows at the Eulo Queen Hotel, named after Isobel Gray, the colourful “Eulo Queen” famed for her ventures and jewellery. We then continue to Thargomindah on the Bulloo River in Channel Country. Once reliant on sheep and wool, its economy now includes petroleum and gas. Notably, it was Australia’s first town, and the world’s third, to generate hydro-electric street lighting using Artesian Basin water pressure.

DAY 4 - THARGOMINDAH (BPLD)

Wednesday 10th June: After breakfast, a local guide shares stories on a town tour, including the Old Jail and Old Thargomindah Hospital with holographic and interactive displays. We also see a demonstration of the Artesian Hydro Power Plant. This afternoon is free to relax—perhaps read a book or chat with locals. Later, we gather on the viewing deck for a spectacular outback sunset before dinner.

DAY 5 - THARGOMINDAH to INNAMINCKA (BPLD)

Thursday 11th June: Following breakfast we make our way to the historic Noccundra Hotel for our morning stop. This is the only surviving building in the historic township of Noccundra. The hotel was built from locally quarried sandstone and transported to Noccundra by camel train. Stopping throughout our outback drive to enjoy our picnic lunches, later today we arrive at the famous Dig Tree . This is the site of the cache of food left for the starving members of the South-North transcontinental expedition. Joining the Adventure Way, we’ll cross over the border which takes us into Innamincka . The Innamincka region is best known historically because of its association with the tragedy of Burke and Wills expedition but more recently it has become identified as a gas and oil area.

DAY 6 - INNAMINCKA (BD)

Friday 12th June: Today we explore Innamincka, beginning with a one-hour cruise along Cooper Creek to enjoy birdlife and diverse plant species. At Kings Marker, our coach awaits to continue the tour on land. Innamincka’s history is tied to the ill-fated Burke and Wills expedition, whose attempt to return south after crossing the continent ended in tragedy. The town never grew beyond thirty residents, yet monuments nearby mark the sites of John O’Hara Burke’s death to the east and William Wills’ death a few kilometres west.

DAY 7 - INNAMINCKA to TIBOOBURRA (BPLD)

Saturday 13th June: We travel part of the Strzelecki Track, once one of the driest routes for cattle to Adelaide, today used mainly for Moomba gasfield supplies. Turning off towards Cameron Corner —the junction of NSW, SA and QLD—we see its permanent marker and the wild dog fence marking the borders. Entering Sturt National Park’s 344,000 hectares of outback terrain, we continue to Tibooburra, NSW’s hottest and most isolated town. We check into our motel and settle in for dinner.

DAY 8 - TIBOOBURRA to BROKEN HILL (BLD)

Sunday 14th June: This morning we head south to Milparinka to view remnants of the old mining town before stopping at Packsaddle Roadhouse on the Silver City Highway. Continuing to Broken Hill, we lunch at The Palace Hotel, famous for its murals and colourful history. Our afternoon includes the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum in the 1905 station, with exhibits from the Silverton Tramway Company, Migrant Heritage Museum and Hospital Museum. We finish at the Geo Centre , where minerals, gems and artefacts highlight Broken Hill’s rich mining past.

DAY 9 - BROKEN HILL (BD)

Monday 15th June: We start at Silver City Mint & Art Gallery with a self-guided tour of The Big Picture, an enormous acrylic capturing vast skies, red earth and riverbeds leading to the Flinders Ranges. Next is the Royal Flying Doctor Base at Broken Hill Airport, where a guided tour reveals the facility in action alongside historic photos and equipment. After lunch, we visit the Pro Hart Gallery, showcasing his sketches, landscapes and narrative works. Our day ends at the Living Desert , where twelve sandstone sculptures crown the Barrier Ranges hilltop, each with its own story, crafted by leading international artists.

DAY 10 - BROKEN to COBAR (BPLD)

Tuesday 16th June: We enjoy a leisurely start, travelling to Wilcannia on the Darling River—once home to legends, poets Henry Lawson / Will Ogilvie / Breaker Morant, and the famed Light Horsemen of WWI. Stopping along the way for picnic lunches, we continue to Cobar for our overnight stay.

DAY 11 - COBAR to MOREE (BLD)

Wednesday 17th June: Today is mostly travel, with stops en-route via Nyngan to the Walgett RSL Memorial Club for lunch. We then continue to Moree for our overnight stay. Our motel features an artesian spa, with soothing hot waters drawn from the Great Artesian Basin—perfect for easing aches or simply relaxing.

DAY 12 - MOREE to TOOWOOMBA (BLD)

Thursday 18th June: Leaving Moree, we visit Coolmunda Organic Olives — Queensland’s olive-growing capital—for a guided tour, tastings and lunch. Known for organic, flavourful produce, the region’s climate yields plump, juicy olives. We then continue to Toowoomba, arriving at Queens Park and the Botanical Gardens, showcasing English-style designs and century-old stately trees.

DAY 13 - TOOWOOMBA to HOME (BL)

Friday 19th June: After breakfast and checkout, we visit Toowoomba’s Cobb & Co Museum , tracing the history of horse-drawn transport in Australia, and enjoy morning tea. We then head home, stopping for lunch at Ipswich Jets Leagues Club, arriving later with lasting memories of our outback journey and the people we met along the way.

Friday 3rd July 2026: Welcome to our 9 day tour of the Hawkesbury Valley. Once settled, sit back, relax and meet fellow travellers as we journey south to Ballina for the evening. We’ll make convenience stops and pause for lunch en-route. On arrival, we visit the Ballina Naval Maritime Museum with displays on the Port, local history, women in the navy, interactive exhibits and a working triple-expansion steam engine.

DAY 2 - BALLINA to MAITLAND (BLD)

Saturday 4th July: We settle in for today’s journey with a morning stop in Grafton, then rejoin the coast at Coffs Harbour before enjoying lunch in Urunga. This afternoon, we continue south, arriving in Maitland for our overnight stay.

DAY 3 - MAITLAND to HAWKESBURY VALLEY (BLD)

Sunday 5th July: This morning we visit Broken Bay Pearls , the only pearl farm on Australia’s East Coast. Our discovery tour includes a cruise to the oyster leases on the scenic Hawkesbury River and an exclusive pearl grading session inside the restricted-access Pearl Room. Returning, we learn the seven virtues that define pearl value before browsing the collection. Lunch is arranged at Berowra RSL Club, followed by a visit to the Museums Discovery Centre , a collaboration of Sydney’s leading museums. Later, we arrive at Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley, our base for the next four nights.

DAY 4 - WILBERFOCE AND EBENEZER (BLD)

Monday 6th July: We journey into Australia's colourful past at the Australiana Pioneer Village in Wilberforce. Step back in time, explore the grounds, see the blacksmith at work, and hear bush musicians play colonial tunes. Enjoy damper with cocky's joy and billy tea at Damper Camp, or browse speciality shops for unique gifts and souvenirs. Next, we visit Ebenezer’s Tizzana Winery . Here we enjoy a tasting, lunch, and a relaxing end to the day. Tonight, we celebrate Christmas with a festive resort dinner.

DAY 5 - RIVERBOAT POSTMAN CRUISE (BLD)

Tuesday 7th July: After an early breakfast, we head to Brooklyn Wharf for Australia’s Last Riverboat Postman Cruise . Operating since 1910, it has long served river communities, and today we share the experience. Lunch is included. After a memorable day, we return to the resort.

DAY 6 - ZIG ZAG RAILWAY & BOTANICAL GARDENS (BD)

Wednesday 8th July: Today we visit the popular Zig Zag Railway , built 1866–1869 and hailed as a major engineering feat. Highlights include magnificent scenery and the sight, sound, and smell of a hard-working steam locomotive, sure to spark nostalgia for the steam era. After our trip, we travel the scenic Bells Line of Road to Mount Tomah for lunch and a visit to the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens , home to 48,000+ plant specimens including the Formal Garden, Explorers' Walk, and Brunet Meadow. We return to our resort for a relaxing dinner.

DAY 7 - HAWKESBURY VALLEY to TAMWORTH (BLD)

Thursday 9th July: We farewell our hosts, and travel to Muswellbrook through the scenic Hunter Valley, with its rolling hills and countryside. After a morning stop in historic Singleton, we continue to Scone for lunch. We then visit the Hunter Warbirds Museum for a talk and tour, showcasing key fighter and trainer aircraft from the Australian Flying Corp and RAAF. Back onboard, we head to Tamworth for our overnight stay.

DAY 8 - TAMWORTH to TOOWOOMBA (BLD)

Friday 10th July: This morning we travel through Bingara and Texas before lunch at The Shed, Goat Rock. The Croft Family serves a home-style country lunch, enjoyed amid Goat Rock’s scenery. We arrive in Toowoomba late afternoon.

DAY 9 - TOOWOOMBA to HOME (B)

Saturday 11th July: After breakfast, we visit Toowoomba’s Japanese Garden, Ju Raku En , for a self-guided tour of Japanese and native trees and plants. Next is the Empire Theatre , magnificently restored to its 1933 origin, where we enjoy a historical tour with amusing stories. With bags full of memories, we journey home, arriving late afternoon.

DAY 3 - OUTBACK LEGENDS (BLFD)

Monday 20th July: We begin at Kinnon & Co , exploring the Station Store’s leather goods and memorabilia before a restored stagecoach ride along the Longreach–Windorah mail route. Back at Kinnon & Co, we enjoy a “smoko” break and the “Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show”, with outback comedy, theatre, and a Billy Can lunch. Next is the Stockman’s Hall of Fame , showcasing Outback pioneer history. The day ends with a sunset cruise on the Thomson River, followed by dinner and live entertainment at Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show under the stars.

DAY 4 - DINOSAURS & MATILDA CENTRE (BLD)

Tuesday 21st July: We begin the day exploring Winton’s open plains before visiting the Australian Age of Dinosaurs to see major fossil finds and the nation’s largest collection. Later, we tour the rebuilt Waltzing Matilda Centre , celebrating the iconic song and Outback spirit. After a full day, we return to our accommodation.

DAY 5 - WINTON to MOUNT ISA (BLD)

Wednesday 22nd July: After breakfast, we travel towards Cloncurry, stopping at Combo Waterhole, thought to be the setting for the billabong in Waltzing Matilda. Lunch is at McKinlay’s Walkabout Creek Hotel , made famous by Crocodile Dundee. We then visit John Flynn Place in Cloncurry, honoring the Royal Flying Doctor Service founder, with its gallery, cultural centre, and RFDS Museum. We finish the day in Mount Isa.

DAY 6 - MOUNT ISA (BLD)

Thursday 23rd July: Mount Isa, we begin at the Outback at Isa Complex with the Hard Times Mine Tour, going underground through 1.2 km of tunnels led by miners sharing insights into underground life. Above ground, we visit the Riversleigh Fossil Centre, explore gallery exhibits, and learn about Indigenous settlement, and mining history through audio-visual displays.

DAY 7 - MOUNT ISA to TENNANT CREEK (BD)

Friday 24th July: Today we cross into the Northern Territory, following the Barkly Highway to its junction with the Stuart Highway near Tennant Creek, a former gold mining town. We check in to our accommodation on arrival.

DAY 8 - TENNANT CREEK to ALICE SPRINGS (BPLD)

Saturday 25th July: Today we travel south, pausing at the iconic Devils Marbles – giant granite boulders scattered across a shallow valley. After taking in the views, we continue to Alice Springs and settle in for the next four nights.

DAY 9 - DAY AT LEISURE (BD)

Sunday 26th July: Today is at leisure to relax or explore. Unwind by the pool, shop, or join an optional day tour (own expense). In the evening, we gather to share stories and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

DAY 10 - ALICE SPRINGS (BLFD)

Monday 27th July: We begin with panoramic views of Alice Springs from Anzac Hill before visiting the School of the Air, supporting education in remote areas. Next is the Old Telegraph Station , highlighting the history of Australia’s early communications, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service , showcasing vital remote healthcare. In the evening, we enjoy a unique dining experience at Earth Sanctuary , with music, entertainment, and Dreamtime stories. A truly unforgettable day!

DAY 11 - ALICE SRINGS (BD)

Tuesday 28th July: A great day is in store as we explore the impressive Western McDonnell Ranges. We stop at Simpsons Gap to see the soaring cliffs and enduring water hole before travelling to see the towering walls of Standley Chasm . Admire the glow from the reflecting sunlight to create a breath-taking display of colour. We return to Alice Springs where we spend some time immersing ourselves in the cultural and heritage of Central Australia through visual and performing art at the Araluen Cultural Precinct and Art Centre.

DAY 12 - ALICE SPRINGS to KINGS CANYON (BLD)

Wednesday 29th July: This morning we farewell Alice Springs, heading south before turning west at Erldunda for lunch at Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse. Our day ends at Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park. In the evening, we experience Bruce Munro’s light installation – 69 two-metre towers made of glass bottles with solar-powered fibre optics that shift colours to music, creating an immersive visual and auditory spectacle. A magical end to the day!

DAY 13 - KINGS CANYON to ULURU (BLFD)

Thursday 30th July: We begin with a walk through Kings Canyon – the adventurous may tackle the Ridge Top Walk, while others enjoy an easier Canyon floor walk. After a light lunch at Kings Creek Station, we travel west towards Uluru, passing Mt Conner en-route, and check into our Yulara accommodation.
In the evening, we experience the Field of Lights – 50,000 illuminated stems with frosted-glass spheres glowing against Uluru at night. Before the lights, we enjoy sunset drinks and canapés with views of the rock, followed by dinner and a Didgeridoo performance. A magical experience!

DAY 14 - ULURU & KATA TJUTA (BFD)

Friday 31st July: Early risers may depart by coach for the Sunrise Viewing Area , while others enjoy breakfast at the resort. Mid-morning, we return to Uluru for a base tour, including the Mutitjulu Waterhole , and a visit to the Cultural Centre with time for lunch. In the afternoon, we travel to Kata Tjuta , the “place of many domes,” pausing at the Valley of the Winds lookout before returning to Ayers Rock Resort. Monday 1st August: Today we travel south along the Stuart Highway to Coober Pedy, the famous opal mining town in South Australia’s far north. We arrive late afternoon, with Coober Pedy our base for two nights.

DAY 16 - EXPLORING COOBER PEDY (BD)

Tuesday 2nd August: Coober Pedy is unique, with 80% of residents living underground to escape the heat. At the Umoona Opal Mine and Museum , we enjoy an opal-cutting demo, explore an underground house, and tour the mine. We also visit Big Winch Lookout for town views, an underground church, and the unusual Coober Pedy Golf Course. In the afternoon, we head to The Breakaways, a striking reserve of low hills separated from the Stuart Range, before returning to town.

DAY 17 - COOBER PEDY to PORT AUGUSTA (BLD)

Wednesday 3rd August: After an early breakfast, we drive south to Woomera for lunch at the Heritage Centre , showcasing the Rocket Range’s history. In the afternoon, we continue to Port Augusta.

DAY 18 - PORT AUGUSTA to BROKEN HILL (BD)

Thursday 4th August: Leaving Port Augusta, we stop in Peterborough for a morning break before continuing to Broken Hill. After time for lunch, we visit the Silver City Mint and Art Centre , home to Peter Anderson’s dramatic Big Picture. In the afternoon, we tour the Living Desert and Sculpture Symposium , where twelve international artists shaped Wilcannia Sandstone into striking forms. Then we finish the day at our motel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 19 - BROKEN HILL to COBAR (BLD)

Friday 5th August: We make an early start, travelling through Wilcannia en-route to Cobar, once a booming copper town in the late 1800s. On arrival, we visit the Great Cobar Museum , tracing history from the Ngiyampaa Aboriginal people to the mining era, with artefacts from the 1870s onward. After lunch, we continue to Fort Bourke Hill Lookout for sweeping views of the open-cut mine and Cobar township, located on the historic site of the New Cobar Gold Mine, the town’s first.

Thursday 3rd September: We begin at the Ken Duncan Gallery , exploring spacious viewing rooms and enjoying an audio-visual presentation. Next is Alison Homestead for morning tea and a guided tour on Wyong’s first land grant (1825). Lunch follows at Bar Botanica, set in three acres of gardens at Distillery Botanica , where owner Phillip Moore creates award-winning spirits using onsite botanicals. From one lush garden to the next we make our way to Firescreek Botanical Winery for a wine tasting with a twist.

Friday 4th September: After breakfast, we check out and visit Broken Bay Pearls , the only pearl farm on Australia’s East Coast. The discovery tour includes a cruise to an oyster lease on the Hawkesbury River and a pearl grading session inside the restricted-access room. Lunch is at the Chocolate & Nougat Factory , home to Nougat Limar, Bon Bon Fine Chocolate, and The Sydney Marshmallow Co., with time to stock up on treats. Crossing the border, we continue to our Gold Coast accommodation for the final night of the tour. In the evening, we head to the Australian Outback Spectacular , beginning with a behind-the-scenes tour of this world-class theatrical production. The show follows Reg and Marge, true Australian characters battling a five-year drought, and takes us on a vivid, emotional journey into the heart of the bush. A three-course dinner is included, making for a fabulous final night.

After a tour and lunch, we continue to the historic village of Berrima to see the Courthouse , site of Australia’s first trial by jury. We finish in Goulburn for the evening.

Friday 18th September: After breakfast, we travel south to Cockington Green Gardens , where miniature handcrafted buildings make the world appear at your feet. After lunch, we relax on the drive to Jindabyne and settle into our accommodation.

DAY 5 - SNOWY MOUNTAINS (BLD)

Saturday 19th September: Today we tour the Snowy Mountains, beginning at the Snowy Region Visitor Centre before heading to Charlotte Pass Lookout for sweeping views of Mount Kosciuszko. We continue through Perisher Valley and enjoy lunch at Sponars Chalet. Back on the Alpine Way, we enter Kosciuszko National Park and stop at Thredbo . Here, we explore the village and take a return trip on the Mt Kosciuszko Chairlift , a 15-minute ride rising 560 metres with stunning views. Our final visit is to Wildbrumby Schnapps , where local fruit and botanicals inspire their award-winning schnapps, gin and vodka.

DAY 6 - SNOWY MOUNTAINS (BLD)

Sunday 20th September: We stop at the Big Trout , a 10-metre sculpture created by local artist Adam Lomnici in 1973, before continuing to Cooma. Morning tea is enjoyed at the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre , where interactive displays showcase the Scheme’s history and its role today. After lunch, we view the Mosaic Time Walk in Centennial Park , depicting the life of the Monaro region from its beginnings to the present. Our final visit is to the Cooma Corrective Service Museum , which explores 200 years of correctional history. A guided tour provides fascinating insights into prison life from the First Fleet to modern times.

DAY 3 - DUBBO & TARONGA WESTERN PLAINS ZOO (BLD)

Wednesday 14th October: After breakfast we visit Old Dubbo Gaol , a remarkably intact site where guides bring prison history to life. We then tour Dundullimal , a National Trust property built in the 1840s. Its timber slab homestead, T-shaped plan, cedar joinery, stone stables, stockyards, and garden remnants make it a fascinating stop. Lunch follows at Dubbo RSL Club before our first “zoo group” stays overnight at Taronga Western Plains Zoo . Covering 300 hectares, it is one of the world’s largest, with animals roaming in natural habitats. Zoofari Lodges accommodate only half our group, so we split. Those staying enjoy a guided walking tour, dinner, breakfast, and the rare experience of sleeping beside the savannah. The other half visits the Western Plains Cultural Centre , home to the city’s gallery and museum, where a behind-the-scenes tour offers access to artefacts and insights into Dubbo’s past.

Thursday 15th October: Our first “zoo group” enjoys an African-inspired breakfast before re-joining the tour. The second group then stays on for their unique overnight. Those who stayed at Zoofari last night instead visit the Western Plains Cultural Centre, home to the city’s gallery and museum. A behind-the-scenes tour offers access to artefacts and insights into Dubbo’s past before we regroup at the motel for the evening.

This rural property remains much as it was when families made it almost self-sufficient. We continue to Armidale to settle in for the night.

Saturday 17th October: We travel north through sheep and cattle country, pausing in Glen Innes. In Warwick we stop for lunch at the RSL Services and Citizens Memorial Club, then continue to Ballandean Estate , Queensland’s oldest family-owned winery. Run by the Puglisi family for over 80 years, it offers a tasting among rustic barrels with views of rolling hills. We finish the day in Toowoomba, with time to refresh before dinner.

Sunday 18th October: After checkout we begin our journey home, stopping at the Workshops Rail Museum . At nearby Scenic World we ride the Scenic Railway—the world’s steepest incline—descending 415m through rainforest. A short boardwalk leads us to the Cableway, before finishing with the Scenic Skyway, gliding 270m above ravines and waterfalls. From here, sweeping views reveal the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, Mount Solitary and the vast Jamison Valley—truly spectacular. We return to Sydney this evening and enjoy dinner at the hotel after a fantastic day.

DAY 2 - STANTHORPE to TAMWORTH (BLD)

Thursday 21st January: Travelling south, we explore country towns beginning with Glen Innes, where we honour the Celtic connection at the Australian Standing Stones . Early afternoon we reach Uralla for lunch and a visit to Inverness Park Cashmere Farm . Here our welcoming hosts explain farm operations, the value of cashmere, and the spinning process, with time to view product. We finish the day in Tamworth, ready for the Country Music Festival.

DAY 3 - TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL (BD)

Friday 22nd January: This morning we visit Oxley Lookout for sweeping views of Tamworth and the Peel Valley. We then explore the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame , featuring memorabilia from legends like Tex Morton and Slim Dusty to stars such as Keith Urban and Kasey Chambers. Next is the Big Golden Guitar Tourist Centre , home to the National Guitar Museum and Gallery of Stars Wax Museum. By afternoon, the Tamworth Country Music Festival is in full swing, with more than 700 performers across 2,800 shows. Guests may purchase tickets for special performances (own expense) or simply enjoy the abundance of free entertainment, including buskers and street acts. The rest of the day is at leisure—immerse yourself in the festival atmosphere!

DAY 4 - TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL (BD)

Saturday 23rd January: The Tamworth Country Music Festival is an unforgettable festival experience like no other! Today we have a full day at the festival. Soak up the atmosphere and sing along to plenty of country music.

DAY 5 - TAMWORTH to BALLINA (BLD)

Sunday 24th January: With guitars still ringing from the festival, we farewell Tamworth and head to Ballina. Along the way we stop for picnic lunches, still humming country tunes after such a memorable music-filled experience.

DAY 6 - BALLINA to HOME (B)

Monday 25th January: After a fantastic time singing and dancing to country music, we enjoy breakfast before heading home. We stop for breaks and lunch, arriving early afternoon with memories of the Tamworth Country Music Festival .
